My grandma is 104 and very feisty and fun – she lives in her own apartment, is very independent, and takes very good care of herself (nails perfect, never let her hair get gray!, fashionable). She’s really an inspiration. Feisty is good!!!

My 76 year old mom has her own political blog (she never blogged before this election – or should I say before Sarah Palin was nominated).

If Sarah Palin is a bitch, what do you call Michele Obama whose college thesis was a rant against the white race. Obviously your age is destroying your ability to judge people of true character, and you have chosen to go down the path of the uninformed, lying left. Try to organize your brain cells and remember that there is a place in hell for women who do not support other women. Of course, living in Florida, you should have no problem dealing with the heat when you get there.

Dolores – “there’s a place in hell for women who don’t support other women” I’m guessing based on the nasty things you said to Helen that you are “supporting” the woman named Palin in the name of supporting all women. For me women, as members of the human race, are a wonderful mix of ideas and actions. Your requirement of supporting any woman just because she is a woman is asking me to abdicate our sex’s membership in that larger human race group – which is sort of sexist don’t you think?

You mention a paper by Michelle Obama – first I’ve heard of it why don’t you post link. Isn’t she a woman? Maybe she doesn’t count as one for you due to her race? Does not supporting her mean you’ll spend eternity in hell?

What if we just deal with Ms. Palin and Helen – hmm here we have two women with different ideas and attitudes. How do I know which one I should “support” to keep myself out of hell? Or do you not view Helen as a woman due to her age? I do, I’m proud to support her and have no worries about the after life. Helen and I will be OK as she lives in TX not FL and I live in CA – both have dry heat (like hell) and we all know what a brain stopper humidity is.

This blog is great. I’m a member of Birth Pangs, and we have some strong opinions regarding Sarah Palin too.

Just out of curiosity, I was wondering why there were no posts archived here at Margaret and Helen from December 2007 to September 2008?

I just discovered your website or blog, or whatever it’s called. Love love love it!!!

Here is some food for thought. I’m a physician who treats patients who are injured in auto accidents. In addition to their back and neck injuries, many of them have what we call “mild traumatic brain injuries” (MTBI). Some of them recover almost completely, but some of them are never quite the same. It’s not uncommon for such a patient so say, “I just got stupid”.

If a patient has had more than one MTBI, the affect is not additive, it is exponential. Each new brain trauma multiplies the deficits of the previous injury.

So why am I bringing this up. Well, my patients have only been injured in auto accidents. Bad enough, God knows.

Now let’s look at John McCain’s health history. I’m not talking about his recurrent Multiple Myeloma. I’m talking about his MULTIPLE TRAUMATIC BRAIN INJURIES (MTBI). After all, he crashed jets–at least 4 of them, maybe 6. The last crash in Viet Nam was the biggie. Even broke his leg and both arms. Can’t imagine that he escaped that crash without a significant brain injury. Make sense?

And then, there are his 5 years at the Hanoi Hilton. I don’t know how often he was tortured. Let’s give him a pass and say that it was only 1 time a month for 5 years. That would be 60…let me repeat…SIXTY savage beatings. I seriously doubt that there was a rule that said, Beat a prisoner anywhere you like, but spare the head. So we can assume that John, God help him, was beaten unconscious at least 60 times during that 5 years. That would constitute 60 TRAUMATIC BRAIN INJURIES, on top of those caused by the jet crashes. On top of the 1964 car crash in which (it is whispered) someone in the car with him was fatally injured. He was taken to the Navy hospital with serious injuries. Another MTB!?

Medical literature has a description of people with multiple traumatic brain injures. They are impulsive, emotionally unstable, quick to flash to anger and suffer with anxiety and depression. They also have a hard time multi-tasking. I guess that’s why John had to leave the campaign trail so he could “concentrate” on the financial crisis in Washington that he helped to create… He couldn’t do TWO THINGS at the same time. Under extreme conditions of stress, multitasking is almost impossbile for someone with multiple MTBI’s. Being President might be just a little stressful. Ya think??

McCain’s reputation precedes him. He is the poster child for people with multiple MTBI’s.
So if you want to keep calling John McCain an ass, be my guest. But I give you permission (not that you needed it or asked for it…) to call him a BRAIN INJURED ASS. That is actually a more accurate and medically correct label. And in my medical opinion, that makes him even more dangerous than George Doubya. And that’s sayin’ something.
And don’t get me started on Ms. Alaskan Barbie…

I wish my grandmother Beatrice were still here. Here’s one of her sayings which I live by: “I’ve never been ashamed to know something and I’ve never been proud to not know something.” Maybe you could get M&H to tighten that up.

Hey, here’s a fund-raising idea…H&M could start a “Virtual Grandma” website, where granny-less people could sign up to be grannied by professional grandmas, like H&M.

If the virtual grannies didn’t want to make any money off of it, they could “charge” a donation to their favorite charity.

Hi Matthew I just discovered your grandmother’s blog today via a link. I am 73 and have been blogging now for almost two years.

When my mother died I felt there were so many things I never learned about her and now I could not even ask. So I decided that I would write a blog that perhaps my two children might be interested in after I am gone. Neither of them read it now.

It is called Nobody Important and that’s the truth but I think of it as places I’ve been, things I do/did and hopefully they will be of interest to my children and maybe even a few more people. Somehow it ended up as so much more, although I don’t blog about politics but I do blog about books on occasion.

I started it off myself, with the help of a book and online research and have learned as I went along. I never hesitated to ask someone and bloggers are amazingly helpful people. Somehow I even ended up as a the administrator of a group of international bloggers so it has been an interesting experience.

Not only that but through blogging I met someone who got me interested in Second Life, a virtual world where I also spend a lot of time. I rent a house there and attend lectures and poetry readings and find it a fascinating place.

I think your grandmother is a very admirable person and it is great that she has so much verve and she has something interesting to say to more than your family. I’m very glad I found her blog and will add it to my bloglines feed.

I do want to thank the creator or “World Press” for making possible the format that allows ordinary people to start blogs. A story about him today in USA Today was interesting. A big thumb’s up to “the girls.” I’ve just turned fifty and hoping I’m learning to be as outspoken as much a “Helen-Wheels” as your grandma when I catch up to her age (she doesn’t seem to be getting any older). I was mad enough to spit nails when Sarah Palin came on the scene, and it prompted me to include one of the few political posts on my blog too (not nearly as humorously or well-written as Helen’s). If that blasted woman did nothing else, she DID bring us all together. You could go to “Helen-Back” and not find another (thank goodness!) I’m only a year younger than your grandmother so I have a good idea how she sees things, – honestly and without a lot of bullhockey tossed into the mix. I’ve been a blogger for many years, actually started when they were called discussion groups or webrings. When they first started they were filled with so much mindless blather that I was bold enough to predict that they would go out of business. Unfortunately I didn’t count on the low expectations of the blogger class.
Mostly I’ve stuck with political blogs but they have become completely predictable and practically uninformative. I’ve been on Huffpost pretty much since it started but am about to give it up because it is essentially unmonitored and the whackos have taken it over. There are so many idiots taking one-line pot shots at other idiots that it is almost worthless because the actual subject gets lost in the flurry of insults.
But since redsicovering your site, I think I might be around for a while.

Matthew, you do indeed have a cool Grandma. I have been reading her blog for over a year and enjoying her wit, humor and insight.

This blog is priceless. I got the link from a freind of mine and we are really enjoying it in Denmark. Wisdom and loads of humor. Reading this blog can really save the day and put a huge smile on my face.
